Does QuickBooks Solopreneur expose an API?
Not for third-party apps. Solopreneur is Intuit's entry tier for one-person businesses, and it is not covered by a public API surface that outside software can register against and build on. Read and write access for third parties is documented as unavailable at this tier. That is a product-tier decision, not a statement about QuickBooks generally.
Why does the tier matter so much?
App marketplaces and integration claims are usually written against the higher QuickBooks tiers. A vendor that says it "integrates with QuickBooks" may be entirely truthful about a different product than the one you bought. If you are on Solopreneur, the only useful question is whether the vendor supports your tier specifically, and the honest answer for direct sync is no — for anyone.
What does that mean for card spend?
Transactions get into Solopreneur through the bank and card feed the product provides, and through file import. Neither of those carries the thing that actually takes your time: the category, the note about what the purchase was for, and the receipt. A feed gives you a merchant name and an amount, and you sit there at tax time deciding what "AMZN MKTP" was.
How does Vergo work with QuickBooks Solopreneur?
Vergo captures the context at the moment of spend. You categorize the charge and photograph the receipt on your phone when it happens, and Vergo holds both against the transaction. At close, Vergo produces a custom-built CSV export matched to the import format Solopreneur expects, so the categorized batch comes in as a file rather than as a list of merchant strings you have to interpret months later.
Vergo does not claim an API sync with QuickBooks Solopreneur, because the tier does not offer one to anybody. The file path is the working path here, and it carries more information than the feed does.
What does good look like on this tier?
For a one-person business the win is not a live connection — it is never having an uncategorized transaction. That means the category is chosen when the charge happens, the receipt is attached to that charge, and the monthly file goes in already matching what you meant. Every alternative on this tier is a variation on decoding merchant descriptors after the fact, which is the part that makes bookkeeping feel like punishment and the part that produces wrong numbers when you finally give up and guess.
What if you move up a tier later?
Businesses that outgrow Solopreneur usually move to a QuickBooks tier with a documented developer surface, and the integration conversation changes at that point. Until then, plan around file import and make sure whatever tool you use is actually capturing category and receipt at the point of spend — that is the part a tier upgrade does not retroactively fix.
Does QuickBooks Solopreneur have a public API?
Not for third-party apps. The Solopreneur tier is not covered by a public API surface outside software can build against, so no vendor can offer a supported direct sync at this tier.
Other tools say they integrate with QuickBooks — why not with mine?
Those claims are generally written against higher QuickBooks tiers. Ask any vendor whether it supports Solopreneur specifically rather than QuickBooks in general.
How does Vergo get card spend into Solopreneur?
You categorize charges and attach receipts in Vergo as they happen, and Vergo generates a custom CSV export matched to the import format Solopreneur expects.
Isn't the bank feed enough?
A feed brings in a merchant name and an amount. It does not bring the category you meant, the note about what the spend was for, or the receipt image — which is what Vergo captures at the point of spend.
